Seat of the Bishop of Winchester, the cathedral’s dramatic Romanesque facade dates from the 11th century and at Nelson Associates we certainly felt the full historical responsibility of this commission.
With a brief to modernise the Cathedral’s gift offer, without compromising on its proud heritage, we developed a series of note and greetings cards featuring key areas of the building. Working with respected photographer Chris Tubbs, we chose to juxtapose old and new with shots of Anthony Gormley’s ‘Sound II’ installation located in the crypt since 1986, as well as Jane Austen’s memorial from the north aisle of the nave.
